List Of Famous Fairy Tale Characters – List Of What
Almost everyone loves a good fairy tale and this list of famous fairy tale characters will help you remember your favorites and maybe introduce you to some new ones. Most of us have our own personal favorite fairy tale character, but what about the others? Just in case you need reminding, we have compiled a list famous fairy tale characters.
Snow White – a classic from the Grim Brothers, Snow White is still popular even to this day. In fact, during the mid-2000’s, several films have been released to showcase a new take on Snow White. Yet, there is something that is heartwarming in the old Disney Classic that makes everyone feel like they are kids again. Perhaps it’s the merry music, especially the “Whistle While You Work”.
Pinocchio – who could ever forget the story of a puppet that turned into a real boy. And let’s not forget about the growing nose. Parents also love this one, as Pinocchio is a story that has a good moral ending.
Cinderella – almost everyone knows about the Disney’s version of Cinderella. However, even before Disney made the film, there were already 11 previous films released about Cinderella. Yes, Cinderella is really that popular.
Princess Aurora – Princess Aurora is the sleeping princess of the fairy tale story of Sleeping Beauty. It’s a fairy tale that can trace back its roots up to the 14th century. The original version was way darker and bloodier. Thankfully, Disney made a version that every kid can love.
Sarah – Sarah is the brave big sister that was forced to a voyage to save her baby brother. The movie is entitled Labyrinth, and it’s a cult classic. Although the film flopped at the box office, but the movie itself was a masterpiece. Hey, how can you fail when you have David Bowie taking a role of a Goblin King?
Dread Pirate Roberts – who could ever forget about the Dread Pirate Roberts from the cult classic the “The Princess Bride“. In the story, it turns out that Wesley is the Dread Pirate Roberts, the same Wesley that the Princess Buttercup fell in love when she was a child. If you haven’t seen fairy tale, then stop what you are doing and watch it right now.
Ariel – an original story by Hans Christian Andersen, Ariel is the mermaid who did what she can to meet the man of his dream. You know the story, it’s “The Little Mermaid“. However, did you know that in the original version, Ariel died and joined the Daughters of the Air?
Belle – who could ever forget the classic tunes from the Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast“. Belle is one of the first characters of Disney that portrays a strong woman, rather than a “damsel in distress” type. No wonder Beauty and the Beast is also the first film turned Broadway musical from Disney.
Aladdin – what’s not there to like about Aladdin? A boy with humble beginnings and risked everything for a princess that he dearly loved. Aladdin is so loved that it spawned a whole new franchise of Broadway musical, computer game and TV series.
Shrek – an ogre, a princess, a small-statured King and a donkey! Do I need so say more?
Ella – Imagine a magical kingdom, and Ella is at the center; surrounded by evil stepmother, evil stepsisters, a fairy godmother and don’t forget about the pin-up prince charming. Yep, that’s Ella Enchanted alright.
Giselle – ever wondered how a fairy tale princess would fair in the real world? Wonder no more as Giselle is the princess of this animation and real-life mash-up.
Tiana – Tiana is the first black princess that came out from Disney, and God, it took them a while. The story was based from The Frog Prince. Only in this version, a frog meets an alligator and a waitress. Yep, it’s not what you think.
Rapunzel – long-golden hair princess, trapped in a remote tower and a prince to save the day and return the princess to her rightful place. You already know about this one.
Elsa – everyone knows about Elsa and her sister from the film Frozen. After all, it’s the highest-grossing animated movie of all time. Did you know that Frozen was supposed to be based from the story of The Snow Queen?
Alice – ever heard about the expression “down the rabbit hole?”. That’s how famous Alice is in the story Alice In wonderland.
Maleficent – almost every story has an evil witch for a villain. However, Maleficent has a different take on Sleeping Beauty. Who would have known that an evil witch is just a misunderstood loving stepmother.
Peter Pan – seriously, who wants to grow up? I bet that everyone would love for Peter Pan to take them away to Neverland.
Jack – Jack and the Beanstalk is one of the all-time classic favorites. It has giants, golden goose and a plant that goes way up to the heavens. A fine fairy tale by me!
Little Red Riding Hood – if there was a story that centers on “don’t wander in the woods by yourself”, then Red Riding Hood takes the cake. Well, you can wander in the woods, just make sure there is a lumberjack around to save you just in case a wolf is able to mimic the appearance of your grandmother.
