Women’s Guild Elects New Officers; Seeks New Members

The SIMHS Women’s Guild has elected its officers for the 2017-2018 term.

Dorothy Liquori took the helm as the Guild’s new President. The other officers are Fran Habib, Vice President; Carol Romano, Recording Secretary; and Diana Zapata, Corresponding Secretary. Maryann Striffolino, SIMHS Director of Volunteer Services, will serve as acting Treasurer.

The Women’s Guild, founded in 1959, meets monthly to plan, carry out, and support fundraising events and other activities to benefit the Society’s programs and services for children with special needs and their families.
Among its yearly fundraisers are the Spring Luncheon in May and the $10,000 Limited Raffle, which kicks off the winter holiday season. The Guild conducts a yearly campaign to provide backpacks and school supplies for the more than 100 students who attend PS/IS 25, the SIMHS’s Day Treatment Center for children with behavioral/emotional challenges. Trips and holiday parties for children and families who receive services are also part of the Guild’s activity agenda.

The Women’s Guild is actively seeking new members. YOU can be part of this compassionate fundraising group. For information on how to join, call Maryann Striffolino, SIMHS Director of Volunteer Services, at 718-442-2225, Ext. 304, or e-mail mstriffolino@simhs.org.
