2017 Membership Drive
Since its inception in 1895, the Staten Island Mental Health Society, a tax exempt 501 (c) 3 organization, has depended on its membership to carry out its motto: “We’re here when you need us.” Our members and their support are what allow us to serve Staten Island’s special-needs children and their families. Over time, our members have been our most loyal supporters. Many volunteer to serve on our Board of Directors or help with our essential fundraising efforts and events. Today, we invite you to join us. There is still time to become a member and make your tax deductible donation for 2017.
During this, our 122nd anniversary year, we continue to face financial hardship due to ongoing changes in healthcare reform, including reduction in Medicaid funding. Coupled with decreases in city and state government contracts, SIMHS continues to tighten its belt and focus on efficiency in the delivery of its services. Above all, our fundraising efforts have multiplied to meet the growing needs of the booming Staten Island population.
Today, I ask that you make a commitment to Staten Island’s most vulnerable children by joining the SIMHS as a member with a minimum contribution of $50. Contributions of $120 or more will enroll you as a member of our elite 120 Club. In recognition of your meaningful gift, members of the 120 Club will receive:
- Exclusive listing on our 120 Year Plaque to be permanently displayed in our corporate office
- Listing of your name or organization in our 2017 Annual Report
- Listing of your name or organization as a 120 Club Member on the Donor Circle section of our website
- Tickets (2) to our SIMHS 120 Year Breakfast Celebration and plaque unveiling
With your 2017 membership donation, you augment SIMHS’s ability to offer programs that are essential for children to achieve their goals, and help them grow into healthy, productive members of the community.
I hope that you will consider helping us continue to fulfill our mission and ensure that we will always be able to tell the Staten Island children, “We’re here when you need us.” Thank you in advance for your generous support. Your decision to join our membership allows us to guide these children to find the path to a higher quality of life.
